Regular readers of the blog know that I’m a big fan of all things Book Creator. You might have attended a webinar with me or checked out a blog post in the past. In today’s blog post, I’ll share a rundown of all of Book Creator’s back-to-school resources for teachers!

Note: This blog post has been updated for 2022.

Starting the School Year with Book Creator

If you’re totally new to Book Creator, it is one of my favorite open-ended creation tools. I use the term “open-ended” to describe tools you can use in many different ways like a blank canvas. Book Creator is perfect for all sorts of projects. It gives students the power to combine voice, video, text, images, widgets, and more to their page. Students can share their books with classmates and families or publish them for the whole world to see.

This year I’m hosting two webinars for the back-to-school season. This August you can join in for:

As you get ready to start the school year, there are many reasons to bring creative opportunities to your students. This getting started guide is perfect for teachers new to Book Creator. And if you’d like to see some Book Creator demos before beginning the school year, Book Creator’s YouTube channel has lots of videos to explore. And the team at Book Creator has plenty of back-to-school activities for you to check out!

Back-to-School Activity Ideas

My Back to School Book is a new set of templates from Book Creator full of back-to-school activity ideas. It includes eight activities you can use as-is or customize for your group of students. For example, you can try out “All About Me” or “Hopes and Dreams” with your class to help build community as you kick off the school year. At the same time, students share about themselves and learn about each other; they can get experience using Book Creator, too.

Try out these back-to-school activity ideas using Book Creator to give students a chance to share their goals in any subject area.

If you’re looking for a digital citizenship resource to start off the school year, Book Creator has you covered. Check out these Common Sense Digital Citizenship Activity Books. You can remix these books straight into your teacher’s library for students to copy. This is also something you can do with the Back to School template book.

When might you use these resources? They are perfect for kicking off the school year with a creative project accomplishing a few different goals. These back-to-school activities help students learn how to set goals, connect with their classmates, and navigate a tool they might use for other projects throughout the school year.

Back-to-School Resources for Teachers

In addition to these two fantastic books with activity ideas, the team at Book Creator has pulled together tips for teachers heading back to school. These tips include housekeeping for existing users like how to archive libraries, set up libraries for new students, and how to expire the invite code to libraries you’ve used in the past.

On this page, you’ll also find steps for setting up students who don’t have email addresses.

This August, the team at Book Creator is hosting a handful of webinars specifically for back-to-school. You can find a complete list of webinars on this page. And of course, you can catch recordings of past webinars on Book Creator’s YouTube channel, too.
