Clarity Classroom is made up of three core components:
- Clarity: Teachers can clearly display both Learning Intentions and Success Criteria for their students using the Learning Clarity and Success Clarity features within Clarity Classroom.
- Sandbox: Teachers can use Clarity Classroom to create, edit, and save their displays for students. One feature I appreciate within the Sandbox is how teachers can personalize displays for their students. There is a selection of colors and fonts for them to use specifically chosen because they are easy for students to read.
- Efficacy: Teachers can save and share their displays with colleagues and other educators. The Efficacy feature in Clarity Classroom allows teachers to reuse the displays. They can also share them with other teachers who can, in turn, use them with their students.
How does Clarity Classroom work?
Clarity Classroom makes it easy for every student to know exactly what they’re learning and how to measure their success during a lesson. The software helps address the Clarity component by placing the teacher’s Learning Intention and Success Criteria at the top of their classroom interactive display screen. It stays there even while other actions are taking place. So, if they share a slideshow presentation or navigate an online space like YouTube, the information is still clearly visible to students.
Although classroom teachers know how important it is to make sure a learning objective is set for a lesson, sharing it in digital spaces can be a challenge. You might already be familiar with John Hattie’s research on the impact of improved teacher clarity. Clarity Classroom helps teachers display these details digitally throughout a lesson using their current display – like an interactive whiteboard.
Creating Content to Share
In addition to displaying learning objectives, Clarity Classroom helps teachers create curriculum-based learning intentions. To make this happen, you can use the database search function built into Clarity Classroom’s Sandbox.
Regular readers of the blog know that I’m closely watching the way artificial intelligence is impacting educators. The team at Clarity Classroom is currently working on an AI engine to support the Sandbox feature. It will help teachers create custom displays they can personalize for their students.
Clarity Classroom’s third component, Efficacy, relates to the way educators can work together as a community. Teachers can share the displays they use within their own school or district.
