What are some of your favorite EdTech tips? In just a few weeks, I’m heading to Orlando for a special EdTech event. This month, I have a presentation and book giveaway with the team at Trafera where I’m sharing EdTech tips at the FETC Conference.
In today’s blog post, I’ll take you through all the details. You’ll hear about Trafera and their TRAILS Digital Lesson Library where each TRAIL Mix incorporates EdTech tools. And you’ll find out how to grab a book at the giveaway they are sponsoring, and learn where to join my EdTech Essentials presentation.
EdTech Tips at FETC
In January 2019, FETC was one of the last in-person events I attended before we all switched to a virtual setting. Although there are many positives to virtual events (from yoga pants to easy access to snacks), I am so excited to attend this year’s event in Orlando. Later this month, I have a special presentation at the Trafera booth where I’ll share my favorite tips from my book EdTech Essentials.
Are you heading to FETC this year? Join me at the Trafera booth #3635 at 12:15 PM on Wednesday, January 26th. I’m leading a presentation that is co-sponsored by Trafera and Lenovo.
Here is the official title and description of the presentation:
A Deep Dive into EdTech Essentials: The Top 10 Technology Strategies for All Learning Environments
In a world awash in technology, what EdTech skills and strategies should educators focus on to ensure they make the best use of online spaces for classroom learning? This session will include an overview of the top ten technology strategies for all learning environments. Join Dr. Monica Burns to examine ways to help students navigate online spaces, share their learning, connect their work to relevant audiences, develop transferable skills, and create digital learning products. During this interactive session, you’ll explore ways to curate the best digital resources for students, introduce opportunities for students to explore the world, and the importance of developing collaboration structures and assessing students with intention. The session will conclude with tips for planning future tech-rich learning experiences.
EdTech Essentials Book Giveaway
The team at Trafera is also giving away 50 copies of my new book, EdTech Essentials. At the end of the presentation, we’re carving out time for a book signing session and giveaway. So if you’re in the Expo Hall near the Trafera booth, make sure to stop by for the book signing and giveaway. It takes place at 12:45 PM on Wednesday, January 26th.
You can learn more about the book here, including some of the topics I cover. The book includes tips for choosing high-quality digital experiences for students. And there is an appendix with lots of extra resources to explore, too.
Trafera and TRAILS
Regular readers of the blog might remember how I joined the team at Trafera for a special webinar. Earlier this year, we chatted all about Google Workspaces and some of the standout features. In the presentation this January at FETC, I’ll talk about big ideas for using technology in education. And we’ll look at how to focus on the essentials this school year.
Have you seen Trafera in action? They are committed to helping educators use technology to improve learning experiences for students. Previously known only for selling educational technology hardware, Trafera has recommitted itself to providing support to help educators build the skills they need to create an instructional shift using digital tools. In the video below, you can learn more about one of their newer offerings, called TRAILS.
TRAIL Guides are thematic units designed to help teachers take students into deeper dives of topics. These guides align with Universal Design Principles and the NGSS and ISTE Standards. For teachers looking for something a bit shorter, Trafera has also created TRAIL Mix. The TRAIL Mix lessons are taught in a single session and also have an interdisciplinary component. TRAILS also includes a new children’s literature series focusing on STEM and Social Emotional Learning that features the Trafera mascot, Tom Traferatops.
If you’re heading to FETC this month, I hope to see you there! Make sure to add these times to your calendar. My session is at Trafera’s booth (12:15 PM) and the book giveaway follows (12:45 PM). Won’t make it to FETC this year? Check out TRAILS and the rest of the fantastic resources on their website www.trafera.com.
