How are you using video in your classroom? Flipgrid is a terrific video app designed to amplify student voice and empower students as learners. The team at Flipgrid has just released a new version of their powerful tool called Flipgrid One.
Video App for Classrooms
Flipgrid One is the free version of the video app Flipgrid Classroom. It allows unlimited video responses to teacher questions. It also includes all of the necessary components to safely and fully engage students online, including password-protection, teacher moderation, transcripts, iOS and Android apps, and more.
As highlighted in the video above, the goal of Flipgrid One and Flipgrid Classroom is to mirror the experiences students already have using video to share their voice. I’m really excited about tools that capture student thinking in authentic ways and help them build digital citizenship skills. With Flipgrid’s video tools you can help students cultivate transferable skills to use both inside and outside the classroom.
Flipgrid Elevates Student Voice
With Flipgrid One and Flipgrid Classroom teachers can create a digital community for their class. Known as a grid, students can use this space to record short videos that spark discussions on a range of topics. Students can share their perspective on an issue and engage with their peers. I can certainly imagine how Flipgrid’s student video tools can totally energize discussions.
This also includes discussions around favorite books in a reading classroom or conversations around biology or earth science topics. For example, students can share a text-to-self connection after a read aloud. Students could also post a question they have after completing a science experiment.
Flipgrid Classroom is $65 per year per educator or $400 per year for 10 educators. Visit Flipgrid’s website to learn more about how their video tools are being used in pre-K to Ph.D learning environments across the country!
